TEACHERS & COACHES

Damian Carter

My name is Damian Carter, a veteran dancer of Phunk Phenomenon. I started with Phunk in 2006 as a dancer, then in 2007 I became a teacher, and from their evolving to a coach & a leader. I’ve taught a numerous amount of kids and teens over time and I’ve watched some of them grow up and become some of the most powerful dancers I’ve ever seen.  In the past I’ve coached Junior Phunk, as well as Lil Phunk and was granted the opportunity to start a group called Phunk Snap which is like my baby! My main styles of dance that I’m known for and also teach consist of Vogue, Hype Hip Hop, and Step all of which have grown to be a part of who I am today! Vogue brings out my femininity, Hype Hip Hop shows my rawness, and Step reflects the consistency. As a dancer I’ve had some great opportunities such as touring in China, dancing for the Monster Jam twice, dancing for BET, and dancing for the Celtics but the biggest memory was placing 3rd in the U.S. not once but twice in a major dance competition called Hip Hop International taking home a bronze medal in 2013 & 2018. I’m very thankful for everything given to me and I want everyone to know Phunk Phenomenon does serve a purpose and the purpose is to raise awareness for Jared our director Reia’s son who suffers from rare genetic disease called Sanfillipo Syndrome. And these are many reasons to why i teach & dance!!!
